Las
ciudades y el Patrimonio Mundial
Los conjuntos urbanos constituyen una de las categorías más
importantes y complejas de la Lista de Patrimonio Mundial.
La adecuación de las áreas urbanas inscritas en dicha Lista a los
requerimientos del mundo actual, preservando al mismo tiempo la
esencia de su Valor Universal Excepcional, supone hoy un reto
ineludible que hay que abordar a distintas escalas, coordinando los
grandes proyectos de ciudad con las pequeñas actuaciones. |

Cities
and World Heritage
Cities represent one of the most important and complex categories in
the World Heritage List.
The adaptation of urban areas registered in the List to the
requirements of the present world, while preserving at the same time
the essence of the Outstanding Universal Value, involves nowadays an
unavoidable challenge to be tackled at different levels,
coordinating both large city projects and small actions. |

Centro Ciudades
Patrimonio Mundial
La Junta de Castilla y León, siguiendo las recomendaciones de UNESCO
y en desarrollo del Plan PAHIS de Patrimonio Histórico de Castilla y
León 2004-2012, ha promovido la creación de un centro de
documentación, estudio e investigación sobre las Ciudades Patrimonio
Mundial, mediante convenios de colaboración con diversas
instituciones como el Grupo de Ciudades Patrimonio de la Humanidad
de España o el Instituto Universitario de Urbanística de la
Universidad de Valladolid.
Además
de las labores de investigación y difusión, el Centro tiene por
misión promover el encuentro y el intercambio de experiencias entre
los diversos agentes e instituciones implicados en la preservación
del Valor Universal Excepcional, con el objetivo de generar
instrumentos urbanísticos de actuación adecuados para afrontar este
importante reto.

World
Heritage Cities Centre
The
Government of Castilla y León, following the UNESCO recommendations
and developing the Heritage Plan of Castilla y León 2004-2012, has
promoted the creation of a centre for information, study and research
on World Heritage Cities, by means of collaboration agreements with
several institutions such as the Group of World Heritage Cities of
Spain and the Institute of Urban Studies of the University of
Valladolid.
As well
as the investigation and diffusion works, the Centre aims to promote
meetings and experience exchanges among the agents and institutions
involved in the preservation of the Outstanding Universal Value,
with the objective of generating the appropriate instruments to face
this major challenge.
